Happiness 2.0 Paper Piecing Original Colorway
Years ago, Jacqueline designed the Happiness quilt which was very successful. Carol will be teaching the updated version, Happiness 2.0. It is the perfect beginners quilt in which we show 13 techniques that Jacqueline uses in all her designs. So, if you hesitate to start one of the BeColourful designs, start with this one and you can handle them all!
What’s included…

- Happiness 2.0 Kit in one of two colorways Original and Cupcake. We have a limited quantity of the Original Colorway available.
- Lunch and Refreshments Daily
We will be providing tables and chairs (plastic folding style), 2 large cutting stations, and two full size ironing stations.
*No refunds within 90 days of first retreat date of session selected due to Sew Senoia commitment to instructor fees and materials based on anticipated attendance. Partial refunds may be given if more than 90 days in advance of date of retreat session. This will be determined case-by-case by Sew Senoia and depending on timeframe of cancellation.
Supply List:
- Thread: white cotton
- Cutting Mat: A 12” x 18” mat works well.
- Pressing: Finger pressing or a pressing tool works well, and irons will be provided in the classroom.
- Magic Pins 36 mm ultra fine (turquoise head) or ultrafine Clover Glass Head Pins: # 2507 - you need a lot.
- A Paper-Creasing Tool: a piece of cardstock or template plastic approximately 2” x 8” works well
- Rulers: small 2½” x 6” ruler, a 6½” x 12” ruler, and a 6½” x 24” ruler will come in handy. ¼ Add-a-quarter ruler if you need one.
- Rotary Cutter: 28mm is great…. especially for those tighter curves. A new blade is a necessity!
- Scissors, large with a sharp blade.
- Zip Lock bags: to store your pieces or fabrics
- Freezer paper.
- Cellophane tape
- Machine needles: Microtex needles 70/10 or 80/10 (Always good to have extras on hand!)
- Several bobbins: 3 or 4 Pre-wound white bobbins the same as your top thread will save you time in class.
- Don’t forget to clean and oil your machine prior to coming to class. We are not experts on the mechanics of your machine. Bring your manual in case a problem occurs with your machine while in class.
- Sewing machine, power cord and your foot pedal.
- Your fabrics!... don’t leave them at home :-)
- The original pattern, don't leave her at home. You are not allowed to work with a copy of the pattern!
Preparation is an essential part of taking this class, and to be fully prepared includes:
1. Reading the pattern very carefully.
2. Highlight the text to make yourself more familiar with the
instructions.
3. Cut the templates a smidge larger from the outside lines.
4. Label the fabrics especially when you work with the 24 Rainbow colors.
5. Download the fabric charts from the BeColourful website to help you to organize your fabrics even better.
6. Make your own fabric chart with small pieces of your fabric choices.
7. Cut the fabrics with a ruler and a rotary cutter.
8. Stack and label the fabric pieces according to the fabric charts in the pattern.
9. Store the fabrics and the templates in zip lock bags.
10. Label each zip lock bag.
You can also start paper piecing the different parts so that you can take full advantage of assembling during class time. Read the back cover of your pattern to see if you need special materials or notions:
- Sew line glue pen
- Seam Ripper
- Fabric Marker
- Pencil &/or Pen and paper, to take notes, if necessary
